Lauren's Legacy to be rebooted

So, I guess it’s time to address an important subject in regards to my work; what’s going on with the Lauren’s Legacy comic?

As you probably know, despite having 3 full chapters and half of the forth done already I had left the series unattended for almost a year due to personal and familiar issues I’ve dealt with this year. But what happens to Lauren & company then? Right now I don’t happy with it.

I started this series over 2 years ago, 2 years in which both my artist & writing skills had changed,  A LOT, and looking back at the previous chapters, I really don’t like them, not artistic, not in the way they’re written. All the comparisons to America’s McGuee Alice only lead me to believe the story feels more like a videogame, which I don’t like one bit, it has lots of exposition, It has lots of fanservice elements, it has tons of things I now find to be pretty lame, that’s why I’ve made a drastic decision, a decision not all may like but that I feel necessary, scrapping everything, throwing all to the trash can and re-starting from zero.

I don’t want to have my story feel restrained by what the show is nor by what fanservice elements readers want to see here, despite being based on the My Little Pony fandom, I want Lauren’s Legacy to stand by itself. That’s why I believe a reboot is the best way to continue the series.

What I want to do with the reboot and where I want Lauren’s Legacy to go? I want it to be more poetic & more artistic, not just some twisted fanservice which keeps getting more and more out of context like Cupcakes or Rainbow Factory. I don’t want it to be something that anyone could grab and turn into a series of bad fanfics, I want for it to demand some sort of respect and (again) standby its own.

What can you expect from this reboot? I’m already working on it, it’s going to be a lot more violent, edgy, dark and mature, both visually and psychologically, Lauren is going to show a lot more of a dark & psychotic personality, and you’ll see a real struggle between her innocent side and that aggressive & violent side of her which is the direct result of her violent & tragic life, you’ll experience more the event of the story trough Lauren’s eyes, both as a pony AND as a human (I want human Lauren to have a more important role than the one she had in the previous series), Dark Dust will be more of a sinister presence rather than a Mary sue like antagonist, Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie & Rarity will have a lot more of presence in the story rather than just some “final bosses” type of roles, Derpy the Doc & Zecora will experience similar changes & finally, the story will move more smoothly, there is going to be a lot more of progress through the images rather than trough dialogues and I want the artwork to be more stylized.

I myself want to take my story more seriously, this don’t mean I won’t draw Lauren in cute or funny images from time to time, but yeah, I’ll be more serious about Lauren’s Legacy so please, avoid all those stupid fanboy questions I’ve got trough the months (no offense) “which character is going to be in the story?” “is this characters going to be in the story?”, “what kind of moves Lauren like?”, “Which anime character would you put in Lauren’s Legacy?” “Would Lauren fight alongside Goku?” “Which videogame characters would Lauren have a crossover with?”, yeah, avoid this questions ‘cause I won’t answer them, in fact, if you catch me in a bad mood, I may even reply in a rude way to you and I don’t want to do that, but I really hate these kind of questions, I want Lauren to be more than just this, so please understand.

The chapters will be shorter and they will be presented in more of a novel style rather than a classic comic cliffhanger style like I was previously doing. Chapter 1 will be called Lauren’s Legacy: Road of Blood & flesh and it will be released between January & February. I’ll be releasing some new artwork this month alongside more details
